Single speed bikes are popular for their simplicity, easy to maintain and ride as there are no gears, less moving parts translates into less maintenance. There are two primary types of single-speed bikes commonly used for urban riding, comfort and fixies. Most riders who just require transport or a bike for recreational riding will choose a single speed comfort bike, comfort bikes have more comfortable seats as well as a relaxed and upright seating position.
